Julio Acevedo, the jig is up!
The suspect in the hit and run crash that killed a young, pregnant, Orthodox Jewish couple was arrested on Wednesday as he was walking out of a convenience store in Bethlehem, Pa., shortly after 5:00 p.m.
Acevedo originally told the NY Daily News that he would turn himself in to authorities, but police have been searching for the fugitive for four days.
The Associated Press talked to a friend of Acevedo, who said the suspect has an attorney and will face the charges of the crash.
Just this week, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly told reporters that they weren’t going to wait for Acevedo to make the first move.
“I don’t know if this is a game or what,” Kelly said. The commissioner added: “We’re actively looking for him. We’re not waiting for him to turn himself in.”
Looks like they didn’t have to wait, they nabbed him on their own!
