Mark Zuckerberg made a big announcement yesterday.

Zuck introduced a new Android homescreen replacement called “Home,” and explained it as “the soul of your phone.” Home is the first thing you see when you pick up your phone.

The HTC First will be the first phone preloaded with Facebook Home, but Home will also launch on the HTC One X, One X+, Samsung Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note II. You can get it on April 12.

Although Facebook did a livefeed to introduce the new products, you might have missed all the specs of the brand new device and what really sets it apart from every other smartphone on the market. Luckily for you, we’ve got the 411 on the technological updates that might make you actually need the HTC First.

Check it out below:

Options – The HTC First comes in 4 different colors. White,  Sky Blue, Red and Black and will run you $99.

Cover feed – A constant, fresh stream of photos and updates from your newsfeed, cover feed is always present when you wake up your phone. You can swipe through to see more photos and updates, double tap to “like” a post and comment right from cover feed.

Notifications – Notifications are attached to “people” now – apps and friends appear right on your home screen. It’s easier to see when you have a missed call, calendar reminder or new message. Open a notification with a double tap or clear them away to see your Cover Feed.

Chat Heads – The mobile messenger lets you jump in and out of conversations while you do other things, like watch a video and browse the web. Reply right from chat heads, or move them around if you’re not ready to respond. Plus you can send and receive texts and Facebook messages from the same spot.

App Launcher – See your favorite apps and post right to Facebook from the same spot. You choose what’s on your app launcher-press and hold an app then drag it anywhere.
