Last night’s free Drake concert at the South Street Seaport in New York City quickly turned into a mob scene and had to be broken up by the police. Over 15,000 people showed up – well above the capacity of the seaport – and a number of fights broke out. This really comes as no surprise, and Drake isn’t the first artist who’s concert turned into a riot. Concerts are fun. Seeing your favorite artist on stage in the flesh, performing your favorite songs, can be an overwhelming, life-changing experience. With the energy of the crowd, the great music, and maybe even a few drinks it’s easy to get carried away. Some fans take their excitement to the next level by ambushing the stage, starting fights, throwing objects, etc. . This is when things go awry – punches are thrown, security is called, etc, Here are a few examples of fan excitement gone overboard.
