The warm weather is finally here, so that means that summer is FINALLY on it’s way.

With just a few weeks of spring left, it’s time to finalize your summer plans. Summer is all about living free, hanging out with your friends, and of course LIVE MUSIC.

There is no better way to spend your summer then chilling in the blazing sun while your favorite performer rocks out right in front of you.

There is a ton of great festivals happening this summer and GlobalGrind decided to round up a few of our favorites so you can get the ball rolling on your summer plans.

Check out what the summer has in store for you below.

1. The Governors Ball Music Festival

You might want to hurry up and get your tickets for this one because they are going fast.

The three-day festival is definitely going to be one of the biggest talks of the summer with big acts like Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Azaelia Banks, Miguel, Kings of Leon, and many more performing. The Governors Ball is the perfect way to start your summer time fun.

2. SummerStage 2013

 

Every year the City Parks Foundation puts together SummerStage around NYC’s greatest parks.

The best part of the SummerStage concert series is that it is FREE! You don’t have to break the bank to hear some of your favorite artists perform. Being that it’s free you might want to get there early, but besides that it’s a win-win.

3. Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival

A road trip might definitely be what the summer entails if you want to check out Bonnaroo.

Taking place in Manchester, TN the three-day festival is jam-packed with over thirty artists performing to quench your musical taste. There is something for everyone at Bonnaroo with performances from Wu-Tang Clan, Action Bronson, Paul McCartney, Nas and a whole lot more.

4. Vans Warped Tour

If rock and punk is your genre of choice, then the Vans Warped Tour is the right fit for you. Beginning on June 15, The Warped Tour will be traveling to a city near you to rock out. There will be tons of vendors giving out free stuff, and artists signing autographs and connecting with their fans.

5. Essence Music Festival

Travel down to the Big Easy this summer to enjoy the Essence Music Festival. Being held July 4 – 7, the Essence Festival is perfect for the R&B lover in you.

Each day is filled with performances from the biggest names in the industry and this year Beyonce herself is closing out the show. Any chance you get to see Queen Bey slay a stage, you might wanna take it.

6. Trillectro

Trillectro is only on it’s 2nd year, but you won’t want to miss out on this day full of musical fun. The full line-up hasn’t been announced yet but so far you can expect to see A$AP Ferg, Travi$ Scott, and a few others.

Tickets haven’t gone on sale yet so keep your eyes and ears open because this one will definitely be worth it.

7. AFROPUNK Festival

On August 24 – 25, the AFROPUNK Festival will make it’s way back to Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn for a weekend full of fun, food, and of course music.

It’s another FREE festival so you definitey can’t go wrong. The festival has been pretty tight lipped about what they have up their sleeves this year but you can expect it to be pretty amazing.

Make sure you RSVP to stay in the loop as more information is released.

8. Electric Zoo

It is the 5th anniversary of Electric Zoo this year, so expect it to be bananas. Taking place Labor Day Weekend at Randall’s Island, the EDM takeover will be in full swing.

There will be five stages with simultaneous performances happening all day and night so make sure you are there. Get your glow sticks ready, and get ready to party with the animals.

9. Made in America Festival

This year Jay-Z and Budweiser are pulling out all the stops for the Made in America Festival in Philly.

The two-day festival taking place during Labor Day Weekend will feature a variety of artists from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, to Skrillex, to Jay’s wife, Beyonce. This will be the perfect way to end your summer on a high note.
