After news broke that Texas Republicans had passed their anti-abortion bill yesterday, the GOP is recanting their faux-win.

Apparently, the bill, which prohibits women from having abortions 20 weeks after conception, did not pass thanks to the protestors that filibustered outside of the State Senate building.

Unfortunately for the Republicans, the Senate’s vote did not come until 12:02 a.m. or 12:03 a.m. And because the deadline for all votes is 12:00 midnight, Democrats maintain that the vote came too late and that this was the real reason why the Republican bill wasn’t passed.

Unfortunately for them…Texas GOP members can’t dispute the time!

Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, a supporter of the anti-abortion bill, as well as an officer in the Senate, stated that the bill was passed on a vote of 19-10, but it wasn’t possible to actually sign it in the Senate because of “an unruly mob using Occupy Wall Street tactics.”

“With all the ruckus and noise going on,” Dewhurst declared that he was unable to make the vote official.

However, Texas Democrats, as well as women’s rights activists, have proof: the time stamp on the official documents show that the bill was passed minutes after the midnight deadline.

Moreover, the Legislator’s website first showed the Senate’s vote occured Wednesday after midnight, but was later changed to a Tuesday night time.

“The G.O.P. Senate leadership comes out of this whole process looking somewhat disingenuous, deceptive and disorganized,” said Mark Jones, a political science professor at Rice University in Houston.

We never thought we’d say this but…..thanks for being late guys!
