The Heat made its big film debut just a few days ago and already it’s being revered as one of the funniest movies of the summer. 

When you have pistols like Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy starring in the same movie, we’re not sure what else you can expect.

So in celebration of female comedians kicking ass, GlobalGrind put together a list of some of our favorite funny girls. Whether performing in a film, on Broadway, or in a hit TV show, these women do not disappoint:

Stuntin On Us! Sandra Bullock’s list of awards and nominations is so long that it has it’s own Wikipedia page.

Roseanne Barr has won Emmy Awards for “Outstanding Lead Actress” in a series, as well as an “Outstanding Talk Show Host.” 

In 2012, Tina Fey was nominated for 3 Emmys and won a Writer’s Guild of America Award for “Best Comedy Series.” 

Best known for her portrayal of the character Kelly Kapoor on The Office, comedian Mindy Kaling has had a hand in executive producing and directing the hit television series, as well as her new show The Mindy Project!

LMAO! In 2012, the famed and funny Amy Poehler won “Best Comedy Actress” at The Comedy Awards. 

Currently starring on MTV’s Girl Code, Nicole Byer has also appeared on 30 Rock, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, and has performed at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre since 2010.

OMG! Chelsea Lately star Chelsea Handler has written four books on the New York Times Best seller list, three of which went Number 1.

U.O.E.N.O! Melissa McCarthy received critical acclaim and an Academy Award nomination for her epic performance in Bridesmaids

Sofia Vergara has been nominated for 3 Primetime Emmy Awards for “Outstanding Supporting Actress” in the hit comedy series Modern Family.

Amy Schumer is the go-to girl if you’re looking for a good roasting. We know her from Comedy Central’s Roasts of Charlie Sheen and Roseanne, as well as 30 Rock, & Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Kristen Wiig is known for tearing up SNL with her reoccurring characters and for writing and co-producing Bridesmaids. 

Lena Dunham writes and stars in the hilarious and poignant HBO smash hit GIRLS.
