If you took notice to the dance seizure inducing cube station spinning music during the VMA’s, you probably spotted the giant mouse head –  Canadian progressive house and electric house producer Deadmau5 – stationed behind it.

Deadmau5 was chosen to be the house artist for the MTV Video Music Awards under the pretense that he would ‘serve as the musical maestro for the duration of the show and will create original remixes from a variety of artists including live musical guests,’ according to the press release.

No one was really sure what being a musical maestro for the evening involved, not even mau5 himself. He said, ‘It’s a wicked honor and privilege to do whatever the hell it is I am doing at the 2010 VMA’s.’

Regardless if he filled the proper role he was signed up for mau5 cued up some great songs for the entire night, including mau5 originals and reworked hits by Travie McCoy, Jason Derülo Robyn, and La Roux.
