Sad news out of Dekalb County, Georgia, where the parents of 18-year-old Ervin Jefferson continue to grieve asking for police to investigate the two men who shot and killed their son outside the family’s home on Saturday night.

Ervin’s mother is insisting her son was unarmed and wants the killers, two private security guards, arrested and prosecuted.

According to 11 News, Ervin’s mother, Candy Brimes describes the night her son was shot saying that he tried to protect his sister when he ran outside their home on Pleasantwood Drive toward a crowd of people who had driven up in at least two cars, threatening his sister.

Candy Grimes said through her tears:

“We heard gunshots. I seen the dude in the green shirt shoot my son. I seen the guy, he had two hands, and he shot my son.”

Grimes said that as soon as her son was shot, someone else drove a car into him.

“By the time I got down there, the car was on top of my son. He was literally under the car.”

Ervin suffered a gunshot wound to the torso.

He was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

DeKalb County police confirmed Sunday that two men did kill Ervin Jefferson: two private security guards from the Village at Wesley Chapel Apartments, just down the street from the family’s home.

Police said the men had left the complex to investigate the disturbance outside Ervin’s home, which Candy Grimes said is what her son was doing – trying to intervene – when the two men killed him.

Mrs. Grimes continued saying:

“One of them shot him, and one of them ran over him. It’s two of y’all. He’s little. He little. Why y’all just didn’t beat him up, jump on him, why you just didn’t fight him, why you have to shoot him? I just want justice. That’s all I want, I just want justice. He was trying to protect us.”

Investigators in Dekalb County have not arrested or charged anyone in Ervin’s shooting death.
