The “I Was Here” singer wasted no time setting the record straight after Harry Belafonte lashed out at her and Jay-Z, feigning ignorance of the duo’s charitable work.

The legendary actor blasted Beyonce and Jay-Z, saying the power couple hasn’t done enough to improve the world:
“I think one of the great abuses of this modern time is that we should have had such high-profile artists, powerful celebrities. But they have turned their back on social responsibility.”
“That goes for Jay-Z and Beyoncé, for example. Give me Bruce Springsteen, and now you’re talking. I really think he is black.”
Well, Beyonce’s team released a mountainous list of her charitable endeavors to the Wall Street Journal in response, which is still only an abbreviated list of the things Bey has done:
Beyonce founded The Survivor Foundation ‣Founded along with the Knowles family and Kelly Rowland, the Knowles- Rowland Center for Youth, a multi-purpose community outreach facility in downtown Houston. The Survivor Foundation was created in response to the devastation cause by Hurricane Katrina for New Orleans residents who moved to Houston in wake of Katrina.
Donated 100K in 2008 to the Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund to aid Texas victims of Hurricane Ike.
Co-wrote and recorded (with Destiny’s Child) “Stand Up For Love” which served as the anthem of 2005 World Children’s Day, an event to raise awareness and funds for children’s causes around the world.
Conducted food drives in Houston, Atlanta, DC, Chicago and Los Angeles as part of The Beyoncé Experience Tour in her efforts to end hunger. It was a partnership with Feeding America. Inducted into the International Pediatric Hall of Fame by Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation for her betterment of children at their honorary ceremony on October 4, 2008.
Partnered with Show Your Helping HandTM, the nations leading hunger-relief charity to deliver more than 3.5 million meals to local food banks. Tents were set up in every city throughout her North American I AM…Tour in 2009.
Committed to supporting the girls of GEMS (Girls Education and Mentoring Services), Beyoncé dedicates her time to interacting with the girls and using her voice to bring awareness to sex trafficking that victimize between 100,000 and 300,000 American children and teens each year.
Graciously gives her time to help the Make-A-Wish Foundation in its mission to bring joy into the lives of wish kids and their families.
Devastated by the Haiti earthquake, Beyoncé performed alongside some of the biggest artists at MTV’s Hope For Haiti Now! Benefit in addition to making a generous monetary donation.
Donated salary from Cadillac Records to the Phoenix House, the largest non-profit alcohol and drug abuse treatment and prevention facility in the nation to open a cosmetology center that offers a seven month training program for adult men and women to prepare for successful careers in the field. The cosmetology center formally named ‘The Beyoncé Cosmetology Center’ was named after Beyoncé in honor of her humanitarian effort. Beyoncé will donate $100K annually to fund the center.
