People should get to wear whatever they want, whenever they want. But most people aren’t Anne Hathaway.

After stunning outfit after stunning outfit while on her press tour for Les Mis, the world just couldn’t wait for the pixie cut Anne to show off some serious red carpet looks during award season. But now that it’s over, we must admit, some of her selections were a bit lackluster. Yet the one that stirred up the most controversy was the pale pink Prada gown that she wore to the Oscars this past weekend.

See, it’s not so much the dress that was the problem, instead it was the little fact that she was supposed to be wearing Valentino to the Oscars, and skimped on the designer friend in the final hour…AFTER the company sent out press releases stating Anne would be wearing ‘Tino. Yikes.

So, Anne sent a little public sorry letter to WWD to tell Valentino, who designed her wedding dress, that she didn’t mean to hurt his feelings and cheat on him with Prada:

It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans. Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last-minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honor of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself. I deeply regret any disappointment caused.

Great, now we will never know what Anne was supposed to wear before she slipped on the nipple dress.
