Aaron Hernandez, the former New England Patriot who was suspected of murdering his friend and semi-football player Odin Lloyd, has been indicted in connection with his death.

According to WCVB:

Hernandez is being held without bail in connection with the slaying of Odin Lloyd, who was found dead on June 17 near Hernandez’s North Attleborough home.

The former tight end was indicted on a charge of assault and battery with intent to murder by the grand jury. Hernandez was also indicted on weapons charges.

A probable cause hearing that had been scheduled for later Thursday has been canceled.

Hernandez’s lawyers have said that the case against him is weak and circumstantial.

The two other men also charged in Lloyd’s death will return to court later this month. We’ll keep you updated with the latest.
