Police believe, despite previous reports, that race is not a key factor in the murder of 20-year-old Chris Lane.
One of the suspects, James Edward’s had a series of suspicious tweets, one that read:
“90% of white ppl are nasty. #HATE THEM.”
But now according to the Associated Press, the three kids who shot Lane were not motivated by race to shoot him in the back and leave him on the side of the road.
District Attorney Jason Hicks said in a statement:
“At this point, the evidence does not support the theory that Christopher Lane was targeted based upon his race or nationality,”
“The evidence is insufficient to establish that race was the primary motive in the murder of Christopher Lane.”
A Duncan police chief believes that the boys who killed Lane were “wannabe gangsters”, and told Banner newspaper:
“It’s the idea that, ‘I’m a gangster, you need to respect me, you need to give me attention, you need to be afraid of me’.”
We pray for the family of Chris Lane and hope this case can get resolved.
