While the world waits to see if President Obama will move forward with plans to retaliate against Syria for their chemical weapon use, Syrian officials are slamming the administration.

According to NBC:

Meanwhile, a leading Syrian government official early Sunday leveled harsh criticism against the Obama administration which, before Saturday’s announcement to seek Congressional approval, appeared on the brink of launching missiles into areas around Damascus.

“The hesitation and the disappointment is so obvious in the words of President Obama yesterday,” Syrian deputy foreign minister Faisal Mekdad told reporters in Damascus, according to The Associated Press. “The confusion was clear as well.”

But that doesn’t seem to be a deterrent for Obama.

The president is waiting on Congress to sign off on limited strikes on Syrian targets, despite opposition from some lawmakers and at least half of the American people. And after Secretary of State John Kerry confirmed that independent tests revealed “signatures of sarin gas” in blood and hair samples from Syria, the president’s resolve seems stronger than ever, even though Britain and France told the U.S. they won’t partner with them in this endeavor.

We’ll have to wait this one out and see what Obama chooses to do, but if he does move forward with the strike, there’s no doubt he’ll be doing it without any of the world’s help.

We’ll keep you updated on the latest developments.
