The 69-year-old white man who was punched and put into a coma over the weekend during a possible hate crime has died.
If you recall, LaShawn Marten, 31, punched the victim, Jeffrey Babbitt, in the face, as well as two other white people, after declaring that he would “punch the first white man” that he saw in the Union Square area of New York City.
According to NBC NY:
The 69-year-old slipped into a coma after the attack, and died Monday. The other victims were treated at hospitals and released.
After the attack, LaShawn was arrested. His lawyer’s information was not immediately available.
