An Arkansas man was fatally shot early Thursday morning after stopping to ask a man in Chicago for directions.

Robert Franklin, 55, and his cousin got lost while driving around the city sometime before 4 a.m. When they pulled over to ask a man for directions, the man climbed in the backseat and announced that it was a robbery.

According to police, the man took cash from the two, got out of the car and then shot into the vehicle. Franklin was hit four times in the back.

Police said Franklin’s cousin wasn’t sure where they were when he asked for directions, so investigators don’t know exactly where the robbery and shooting took place.

The cousin managed to drive Franklin to John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County, where he later died.

Police have yet to make any arrests and are still investigating.
