It appears that these last few months in treatment are finally starting to pay off.

Amanda Bynes, who was involuntarily hospitalized after starting a small fire in someone’s driveway back in July, is finally mentally fit to stand trial for an outstanding DUI charge.

Following the incident, Bynes was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold, and her mother was later granted conservatorship over her daughter. The young actress has been treated in a private facility for a mental disorder believed to be schizophrenia and is reported to be making great strides in her recovery.

A judge recently reviewed Amanda’s medical records and has concluded that the former child star is mentally competent to take the stand over a DUI case, according to Radar Online. The 27-year-old was originally scheduled to appear in court in late September for the charge, but never showed up.

“Her attorney declared a 1368 hearing to declare a doubt to mental competency. The parties will be due back in court on January 14, 2013 for a progress report,” a Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office representative told Us Weekly.

Amanda is set to be released from rehab just in time for the holidays.

We hope to see Amanda continue on the path towards mental health and stability.
