Long before baby North was a twinkle in her father’s eye, Kanye West was seen proudly prancing around alongside Kim Kardashian with the yet-to-be-released red Air Yeezy 3s strapped to his feet.
Kim Kardashian Instagrammed the shoe, they were bestowed the unofficial name “Red Octobers,” they were name-dropped on Yeezus, and there was even a giveaway promoted by Kanye. Then, October came and went, and we never heard a thing about those much-hyped Red Octobers again.
Now, via the best way Kanye knows how (read: rant) during his Yeezus tour stop in Brooklyn, Kanye let the world know that he has just signed a “new deal” before yelling, “Fuck Nike.” So, we’re going to go ahead and assume that means those new Yeezys will never see the light of retail day. Kanye has since committed to only wearing Visim moccasins and we’ll assume he will move on to solely wearing Adidas soon enough.
During his press rounds to promote the Yeezus tour, Kanye did a lot of talking about a “new deal” with a company that will allow him to have the production needed to master his creative vision in the world of fashion, but repeatedly noted that he wasn’t able to release any info about the deal. But these are the internets, information leaks like albums, so rumor has it that Kanye has reportedly signed a deal with Adidas’s fashion-focused range, Y-3, to produce a sneaker, as well as a clothing line. The line will reportedly be called YEEZI, as Nike has rights to “YEEZY.”
