Demi Lovato has never been shy about her past drug addiction that ended with a stint in rehab, but now she’s revealing the extreme measures she took to have drugs with her at all times.

In a candid interview with Access Hollywood, the X-Factor judge spoke about her drug of choice and described the things she’d do just to have it accessible. She revealed:

“I couldn’t go 30 minutes to an hour without cocaine and I would bring it on airplanes.”

At the height of her hardcore drug addiction, Lovato was still a young teenager. The now 21-year-old went on to describe her addiction as “manipulative,” telling Access Hollywood:

“I would smuggle it basically, and just wait until everyone in first class would go to sleep, and I would do it right there. I’d sneak to the bathroom and I’d do it. That’s how difficult it got, and that was even with somebody [with me]. I had a sober companion, somebody who was watching me 24/7, living with me. I was able to hide it from them as well.”

Demi explained that her drug addiction lead to alcoholic behavior, overeating, and self mutilation. She was at her wits’ end by the time she was just 18-years-old, and admitted herself into rehab.

Now, Demi is happy, healthy and looking better than ever.
