London Fashion Week is in full-swing across the pond, but here on the snowy East Coast, we’re still reveling in the glory of New York Fashion Week. Last week, the city runneth over with celebrities, writers, photographers, designers and a flock of fashionable people willing to bear the cold in their fashionable shoes. But one event was the holy grail of art meeting fashion and the Simmons family legacy.
Angela Simmons turned off the lights and turned on the black lights to present her clothing line, AngelaIAM, during a star-studded presentation, featuring models wearing items designed by Ron Bass and Keva J swimwear. GlobalGrind was on the scene to celebrate the AngelaIAM “Electric Daze” Fall 2014 collection during NYFW, and with talents like Ashanti, rapper Juelz Santana, Bow Wow, Jermaine Dupri and Uncle Rush on the scene, there was plenty worth chatting about.
We caught up with little brother Diggy Simmons, who revealed exclusively to us that his new album is in the works with a new single slated to be released in two weeks. We also caught up with one of our favorite girls of the moment, Zendaya Coleman, who talked about her fashion inspiration. And at long last, we got to speak with the lady of the hour, Angela Simmons, as she gushed about her own baby – the clothing line – and her sister’s baby that she plans on spoiling.
