Pharrell is continuing to take over the music world as his latest hit “Happy” tops Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

The Producer of the Year topped the charts most recently with Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” and before that with Snoop Dogg’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and Ludacris’ “Money Maker,” but “Happy” is his first solo number one single.

It’s also notable because last year no black artist topped the Billboard singles charts.

“Happy” was originally on the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack and became such a hit that Skateboard P also included it on his album, G I R Lwhich is available to stream right now.

Catch Pharrell performing the Oscar-nominated hit at this Sunday’s Academy Awards on CBS, and pick up his album G I R L when it hits stores on March 3rd.
