Grammy award-winning singer Anita Baker is in some hot water. A bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of the “Sweet Love” crooner in a lawsuit that alleges she failed to pay for more than $15,000 of work done on her home. Baker failed to appear at a creditor’s examination in Wayne County Circuit Court last September after she was subpoenaed. She could not be reached for comment. Read about it here…[DetroitFreePress]

Police in Hawaii have taken this “above the law” cop thing to another level. Honolulu police officers are urging lawmakers to keep an exemption in state law that allows undercover cops to have sex with prostitutes during investigations. Why? In a plot taken straight from the hit show Breaking Bad, an IT teacher at a secondary school in Wales was arrested and sentenced to three and a half years in prison after authorities discovered a cocaine lab worth $1.5 million in his house. Macphallen Kuwale was also caught with around $13,000 of cocaine at the time of his arrest. Read about it here…[Gawker]

A 1-year-old girl in Texas was rushed to the hospital with acute poisoning after the child’s mother, 17-year-old Shadreon Jefferson and an aunt allegedly gave the child six shots of vodka. The women dropped the baby off at her father’s house, who noticed the girl’s eyes rolling into the back of her head. Doctors found that the child had a blood alcohol content of 0.268, more than three times the legal limit for adults. Jefferson and Shamara Batiste were both charged with felony child endangerment.
