This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for. The Oscars of fashion, otherwise known as the Met Gala, is tonight, and the fashion festivities have officially been kicked off by the First Lady of Flawlessness – otherwise known as Michelle Obama.

Not too long ago today, Michelle made her way over to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where she cut the ribbon at the opening of the Anna Wintour Costume Center to unveil the $40 million, newly renovated wing, which shares its name with the Vogue Editor-in-Chief.

And naturally, you want to know what she was wearing, right? A Naeem Khan number that sprang spring into action–yes, we’re attributing this amazing weather to Michelle. She gets all the credit. Her sheath dress, made of silk organza, blossomed with embroidered green flowers. She delivered a speech before fashion’s finest, with the likes of Ralph LaurenDiane von FurstenbergDonatella VersaceVictoria BeckhamSarah Jessica ParkerMarc Jacobs, and many, many more present.

There’s still no word as to whether we can expect Mrs. Obama to walk the white tie-themed red carpet this evening, but could you picture how amazing that would be? Michelle, in a glamorous gown with gloves to match and Barack, in a top hat?

While we daydream, check out more photos of the ribbon-cutting ceremony below, and don’t forget to keep up with us tonight for red carpet coverage.
