If Anna Wintour asks you to do something, you don’t turn her down, not even if you’re Michelle Obama–although we doubt she had to strong-arm the First Lady into endorsing the opening of the costume center that bares the Vogue Editor-in-Chief’s name.

On Monday, May 5, the Metropolitan Museum of Art will finally be opening its newly-renovated fashion wing, aka the Anna Wintour Costume Center, with the help of Michelle, who will cut the ribbon and deliver a speech on the morning of the annual Costume Institute Gala, WWD reports. To which we immediately began wondering, “What ever will she wear?!”

Bad news, though, according to Page Six, Michelle will not be attending the fashion fete later that evening:

“Because of her close relationship with Anna Wintour, Mrs. Obama will attend the naming ceremony. There was some talk about her attending the Met Gala itself, but it was decided that her attendance would require huge extra security and screening at the party, which could inconvenience others. Guests wearing gowns wouldn’t wish to go through metal detectors or be patted down on their way into the ball.”

Well, we’re just going to cross our fingers and hope that isn’t true…
