According to new reports, Chris Brown did not admit to assaulting the alleged victim in his D.C. criminal trial. His lawyer, Mark Geragos tells TMZ, Brown only admitted to violating his probation but did not get more specific than that.
The site reports:
Geragos tells us … HE — not Chris — conceded there was a factual basis to conclude his client violated probation based on the police report.
What’s more, Geragos says there’s no way the D.C. prosecutor could use Brown’s admission as a confession, because the standard of proof in a criminal case is much higher than in a probation hearing.
Geragos says he merely told the Rihanna judge it’s “more likely than not” that Chris screwed up in D.C. In a criminal trial, the prosecutor must show Chris screwed up beyond a reasonable doubt.

2014 is really not Chris Brown‘s year.
The 25-year-old singing sensation was just sentenced to a year in prison, after he admitted to violating his probation in the Rihanna case, during a court hearing yesterday.
According to TMZ, Breezy has been awarded “time served” and is supposed to spend an additional 131 days behind bars, as the first 234 days he’s spent in jail and rehab will be taken into account.
But maybe Breezy hasn’t run out of luck just yet.
In a bizarre turn of events, the site reports that he may actually get out sometime this week instead. Yes, it could very well happen, as the site reports:
But we’re told the L.A. County Sheriff’s Dept has been releasing inmates sentenced to 1 year after 240 days. And here’s the thing. Chris gets credit for 2 days for every 1 he served behind bars, so when you add it up, he has credit for 234 days — 6 days shy. So he could be released in days.
The judge could have given him 4 years in jail, but showed leniency since his violent behavior may have been connected to the fact that he’s bipolar. Chris has been ordered to attend therapy sessions two times a week, as well as do random drug testing three times every week.
Here’s the thing – Even if he does get to come home, Chris’ D.C. assault trial is set to start in the following months so his legal troubles aren’t over just yet. We’re wishing you luck Breezy.
