Yep. That happened.
In what was probably a scary and equally mortifying moment, a White House intern – during her first day on the job, mind you – fainted during a press briefing headed by the new White House press secretary, Josh Earnest.
And yes, it was all caught on LIVE C-SPAN.
Here’s the pool report from HuffPo’s Jennifer Bendery, via Politico:
Not much news over here today so far, except a White House comms intern fainted at the end of Josh Earnest’s press briefing a few minutes ago.
A White House official tells me it was the intern’s first day here (and asked that I don’t use her name), along with a group of other brand new comms interns. Earnest and Eric Schultz rushed water over to her, and another aide brought out a small box of m&ms.
The intern told me she had been feeling “faint” earlier, but didn’t skip lunch so wasn’t sure why. Today’s briefing was all of the interns’ first time attending a White House briefing, so it should be memorable for them!
We’re sure it was memorable for the unnamed intern who unintentionally made a scene. We’re just glad she’s OK.
