On the heels of a video showing New York Police Department officers bashing a gun in a teenager’s face, new video of a plainclothes officer knocking out another teen has emerged.

The video, released by the family of 17-year-old Marcel Hamer, can be viewed above.

From NY Mag:

Lawyers for Hamer say their client was suspected of smoking marijuana, but was ultimately just charged with disorderly conduct. “Mister, it was just a cigarette, sir,” says Hamer in the video, right before a partially obscured strike that appears to leave him unconscious.

“Do you wanna get fucked up?” the officer says. “Yeah, get it on film,” he tells the boy’s friends.

Hamer’s friends can be heard in the background asking the officer to help the teenager. His family says the teen suffered from memory loss and dizziness. Hamer has also suffered from headaches since he was hit by the officer.

The incident, which occurred on June 4, is reportedly under investigation by the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau.

Video of Hamer’s attack is just one of many that have emerged in recent months of police abusing their powers and exercising extreme force, sometimes with fatal results.

“It is pervasive now, throughout the department,” said Hamer’s attorney, William Thompson, a former state Supreme Court judge. “It is indicative of an attitude in the police department that is, ‘Them against us. Let’s do whatever we want.’”
