After Raven-Symone‘s recent sit-down with Oprah Winfrey, critics expressed their distaste for her seemingly offensive comments about race and orientation.

During the interview, Raven revealed to Oprah that she was tired of being labeled and that she does not wish to be categorized as an African-American, sending social media into a frenzy. Raven said:

“I’m an American. I’m not an African-American. I’m an American.”

In an attempt to clarify her statements, she added:

“What I really mean by that is I’m an American. That’s what I really mean. I have darker skin. I have a nice, interesting grade of hair. I connect with Caucasian. I connect with Asian. I connect with Black. I connect with Indian. I connect with each culture.”

Judging by her bold remarks, Raven is not one to hold her tongue. She shared the photo above on her Instagram to let the world know this is the last time she’ll speak on the matter. In an interview with TheGrio.com, Raven responded to critics:

“I never said I wasn’t black … I want to make that very clear.  I said, I am not African-American.  I never expected my personal beliefs and comments to spark such emotion in people.  I think it is only positive when we can openly discuss race and being labeled in America.”

Now we know for sure, Raven-Symone is undeniably black.
