Suge Knight might not be able to get many messages through while he’s in jail awaiting his murder trial, but he’s trying his best.

While in court yesterday, Knight wanted to wish his six-year-old son a happy birthday. He wrote “Happy birthday Legend” on a piece of paper, and waited for the TV camera operator to focus on his sign, according to the Daily Mail. He did so sneakily so the judge wouldn’t see. The court official, however, kept a close eye on him and made him put down his paper.

But that didn’t stop Suge, of course, because he did it again a little while later.

TMZ reports that the former Death Row Records mogul spent Legend’s birthday with his son where dreams come true last year – Disneyland.

Knight has pled not guilty to the murder charges stemming from a hit and run during filming for N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton back in January. If convicted, he faces life in prison.
