Chicago-based sneakerheads now have a place to call home.

As Drake alluded to in “Jumpman;” they’ve been up to something. Jordan Brand finally opened up its flagship store in Chi-town this weekend. The Footaction-backed store caused many sneakerheads to line up days and hours in advance for the grand opening at 6:23 a.m on Saturday. It opened up at 6 because that’s how many championships Michael Jordan won with the Bulls, and 23 of course, because it’s his number known around the world. While some were just happy to see the store dedicated to the best player in the game, others wanted a chance to buy sneakers that would only be available during the opening.

The space also serves as an homage to MJ with some amazing artwork along the walls, including an oversized hand-painted mural of Jordan’s gravity-defying dunk from the free throw line. Aside from the retail area, there’s also a private training space with a basketball court and weight room, called “Station 23.” Basketball teams are invited to the court, or can arrange a date to rent it. There for the store’s opening was Bulls shooting guard Jimmy Butler, playing scout as he watched Marian Catholic High School’s varsity team practices.

His Airness’ son, Marcus Jordan, was in attendance and revealed he’s looking to open his own athletic boutique. He was amazed by the turnout, saying, “It’s unreal. The lines are wrapped around the block. They’re just shuttling people in and out. So it’s really cool. I heard some people were camped out since Wednesday.”

As the Jordan Brand’s legacy continues to create a lasting stamp on pop culture, expect way more flagship stores to open around the country and the world.
