Michael Wright, who was drafted by the Knicks in 2001, was found dead in Brooklyn in the back of his Lexus SUV on Tuesday, the NY Daily News reports.

He was reported missing by his New Jersey roommate on Sunday, prompting the search. Police say he may have been killed by a man he met on a gay dating app. He was discovered with a head wound in Midwood at about 11 a.m. on Tuesday- his body was covered in black garbage bags.

Autopsy results have yet to be released by police, but his death is presumed to be a homicide.

We are in disbelief,” Wright’s cousin Randolph Berry told the NY Daily News. “They’re telling us it’s foul play. His mom is on her way to New York now.”

Despite his overbearing height of 6-foot-8, Berry said he was never a real threat.

He’s a gentle giant,” Berry said. “He was a good person.”

Michael Wright got his start in basketball as an Arizona Wildcat back in the late ‘90s and was drafted by the Knicks in the second round of the ‘01 draft. He didn’t make it onto the roster, however, and decided to take his talents overseas. He’s been playing in European leagues ever since.

Detectives are investigating the possibility that he was killed by a man he met on the app Grinder, police sources said.
