One of the country’s most elite military schools is the latest group to get caught up in a racial scandal.

Video surfaced appearing to show seven students at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina wearing KKK hoods while singing Christmas carols. The hoods were said to represent the “Ghosts of Christmas Past” and were supposedly part of a skit.

Lt. General John W. Rosa, who spoke to the NY Daily News, said the school is investigating the disturbing picture, but holds strong that, “These images are not consistent with our core values of honor, duty and respect.” The Citadel’s Alumni Association called the photo “disgraceful.” The News reports:

Sati Rose Firestone, who brought the photo to light on her Facebook page, got the KKK pic from a stranger on Snapchat, the Post and Courier reports.

The photo came with a chat message from the stranger: “I always wanted a black girl.”

“I screenshotted and decided to share because I was so offended. Was this their idea of some kind of joke?” Firestone wrote on the now-deleted Facebook post.

The students have since been suspended.
