VH1’s Hip-Hop Honors is back, and this year it’s all about the ladies.

After being gone for six years, the theme is set to be All Hail the Queens and will honor all of the women who broke through the glass ceiling and rose to fame and prominence in such a male-dominated field.

And what better woman to kick off the honoree announcement than the pioneering Queen Latifah, who first rose to fame in late ’80s with hits like “Ladies First”? In the past, VH1 has honored the greats like Public Enemy, Russell Simmons and Tupac, but this year’s twist is a welcome breath of fresh air.

Aside from the Queen, Missy Elliott is also set to be honored. Misdemeanor isn’t just known for selling over 30 million records, but is also responsible for most of your favorite catchy dance tracks in the early 2000s. VH1 has also revealed that Salt-N-Pepa featuring DJ Spinderella will get some much-deserved screen time at VH1’s Hip Hop Honors: All Hail the Queens.

With these three legendary acts already set to touch the stage, we can’t wait to see who else VH1 plans to honor. The show will air Monday, July 11th at 9 p.m. EST live from New York.
