OMG, the people of Haiti need our help!!! Heyyyyyyy wooorrrrrrdddd!!! I’m in Haiti and I wanted to give you guys an update on everything that I saw today and what we did down here on this mission trip.

We landed in Port-au-Prince Friday morning and I was so blown away at all of the devastation from the massive earthquake that hit this country earlier in the year.

Things were so messed up all over the place that it was hard to even recognize what they used to be.

We drove by the Presidential Palace and it was so messed up with piles of rubble everywhere!!! And then we saw the city’s cathedral and I was shocked at what I saw.

There were just hundreds and hundreds of people living in tents and taking baths in the streets because they have no homes any longer. It was so, so sad, ya’ll. There’s just so much help needed down here.

The stuff you see on television shows some of the destruction and devastation, but it’s nothing compared to seeing it firsthand with my own eyes. It’s something that you have to see in person to get the full effect of what has happened to these people here.

I also went to the Haitian Olympic Committee’s recreational program in one of the tented camps where I spoke to a group of about 300 kids. I played basketball with some of them and just kind of goofed off as much as I could to try and make them smile.

I was just trying to bring some fun into these kids’ lives because I know now about the hard times that they have had to go through. It just warmed my heart seeing these kids smile and kind of forget about their troubles for a few minutes and have fun.

On Saturday, my former teammate and good friend Adonal Foyle gets to town and we’re going to try and spread some cheer to as many people from here and volunteers as we can.

We’re going to have a special surprise for some of the school kids in the area, and later in the day we’re going to visit another school just outside of Port-au-Prince. I feel really good about what I am doing here in Haiti, but I’m just one person and there’s only so much that I can do.

I know that a lot of people have kind of forgotten about Haiti in the months since the earthquake, but the people here still need so much help. It’s going to be years before they get buildings, houses and their lives put back together.

The people of Haiti and the many volunteers down here helping need help from all of you guys out there. If I could, I’d round up everybody from Orlando who wants to help and bring them down here. It would could get hundreds or even thousands of people working together, maybe we could make a big difference and help these people get back on their feet again.

Seeing the destruction down here with my own eyes really hit me hard. I’m so glad that I came here to see it for myself. These people need our help just to live from day to day.

I’m hoping that all ya’ll out there haven’t forgotten about Haiti because they still need whatever help that you can give. To learn more about my work in Haiti, you can also visit my website. God bless and take care!!!
