By mid-January 2010 the electronic speed control had ceased to work, being stuck on mid-speed. Before that though, the metal shaft of the main fitment actually became detached during normal pureeing, from what I could then see was the inadequate plastic bung-like thing that provides the coupling to the motor. On this occasion I pushed the plastic bit back into the metal part and tried to forget it had happened. I did worry though that any food-stuff/water that got past that bung thing could fester in the stainless-steel shaft unless one deliberately wrenched it off periodically to give it a good seeing to in a dishwasher (which not all of us have anyway). The other parts of the system all seemed to work well: the chopper was very good for breadcrumbs at least, but they always are, so nothing special there; don’t recall whether I used the whisk, but again these are usually unproblematic as they don’t, or shouldn’t, put much strain on the machine if used for the correct purposes. But it’s usually for the ‘whizzing’ bit that one buys these things for (soups and sauces), so that’s the bit that gets used the most. After all, when these things first came out they were one-piece and that’s all you could use them for in any case. I’ve now returned the Krups to Amazon for a full refund, and shall try the flashy Bosch to see if it’s been any better designed and tested.

“3 year old Krups hand blender” 2009-12-16 By Domestic Warrior (UK) Had this hand blender for almost three years and used it almost every day. It has performed very well doing all we asked of it. Baby food, soups, whisking – Royal icing – smoothies, never used it for preparing vegetables though. It is easy to dismantle and clean and the chopping ‘bowl’ attachment was still in pretty good nick even after almost 3 years. Sadly just before its third birthday it ceased to function.

“good quality item” 2009-05-17 By xxxx (xx) This is my third handblender, and I have long been convinced of the usefulness of this bit of kitchengadget. Soups, dips, I couldn’t cook without it.
