A husband, house, and career– what more could a girl ask for? In theory, that would mean a woman has it all. But what if we’re still not happy? That’s the issue tackled in ‘Eat, Pray Love,’coming to theaters today, August 13th starring Julia Roberts.
Definitely not the ideal situation to be in, Liz Gilbert (Roberts), finds herself dissatisfied, divorced, and middle-aged. She takes off around the world on a quest for self-discovery, and finds true nourishment, the power of prayer, and the inner peace that can come from true love.
Based on the 2006 memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert, ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ quickly grew in popularity. With it’s Oprah’s Book Club-esque style, it remained on the New York Times Best Seller list for 158 weeks.

It’s chick flicks of this nature that sometimes put a knot in my stomach. On one hand, many women are bread to think that we’re supposed to settle down, raise a perfect family, cook, clean, and be content. On the other hand, many of us (and rightfully so) crave (and deserve) more. Especially after a divorce, people sometimes think life is over, and that our one chance at happiness with a significant other has passed. Well f*uck that. We have a plethora of good, solid examples of poised, strong women that really hit their stride, post break-up. That’s right, got rid of whatever boy they were with, and did their thing.
This seemed fitting for the occasion:
