Almost 20 years later later and wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas contacted Anita Hill to ask for her apology for accusing the justice for sexual harassment. Virginia Thomas‘ intention for the contact was basically to extend an olive branch to Hill.
For those of you who aren’t finally with the case, here’s some background information. In 1991, Anita Hill had charged Justice Thomas for making sexual remarks which included references to pornographic films.

Justice Thomas denied the accusations and stated that he did talk about these types of movies while at Yale Law school, but it was often a topic of discussion among the young people at the time. The accusations almost ruined his chances of becoming a Supreme Court Justice.
Anita Hill was an employee at the Education Department and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and she worked for Justice Thomas. She had made her allegations AFTER Justice Thomas had been nominated to the high court, which was 10 years after she started working for him.This spawned a national debate on sexual harassment in the workplace.

Anyways, fast forward 19 years, Virginia Thomas left a voicemail over the weekend. Here is what she said according to ABC News: ‘I just wanted to reach across the airwaves and the years and ask you to consider something. I would love you to consider an apology sometime and some full explanation of why you did what you did with my husband. So give it some thought and certainly pray about this and come to understand why you did what you did. OK, have a good day.’
Anita Hill, who now is a professor for Brandeis University, contacted the Brandeis‘ public safety office, who then informed the FBI. She dubbed the phone call ‘inappropriate’ and stated that she had no intention on apologizing. She is adamant by standing by her testimony.
Virginia Thomas then stated that she did not intend to offend Hill at all, she just wanted to terminate this feuDid you think Thomas was as ‘inappropriate’ for reaching out to Anita Hill? We don’t! In fact, this feud is almost as old as a college sophmore! In other words, it needs to be squashed!
