San Diego Chargers Linebacker Shaun Phillips presented a $7,000 check to the San Diego chapter of After-School All-Stars to wrap up another great season with “SP’s All-Star Sack Attack” program. The check was presented Thursday, February 25 at a mixer hosted by Sports Illustrated.
Three years ago, Shaun pledged to donate $1,000 to After-School All-Stars for every sack he recorded in the National Football League (NFL) season. With seven sacks in the 2009 season, Shaun will personally donate $7,000 to the After-School All-Stars at the SI event. In addition, three local companies have pledged to match his donation this year, bringing the total 2009 donation of “SP’s All-Star Sack Attack” program to $28,000..
After-School All-Stars is a program dedicated to providing comprehensive after-school programs that keep kids safe while continuing to nurture their minds. Through programs that incorporate academic assistance, independent learning, enrichment activities and sports, kids benefit from increased confidence and success in all areas of their lives—at home, in school and in the community.
