Following the tradition of athletes who win big and then race to the recording studio (think Kobe, Shaq, etc.) the Lakers‘ Ron Artest just released the video for his song, ‘Champions’. The very recession-friendly video consists mostly of shots of Artest and some buddies lip-syncing the lyrics in the back of an SUV, and at the studio.

Although eyes probably rolled at the thought of Ron Artest’s first rap attempt, his flow isn’t bad. His song pays homage to champions in every sport from football to swimming to Nascar racing, and is full of understandable bravado. His best line is the ‘I specialize in everything that can’t be done. Moment of silence for the champion’.

The man has a ring now. Might as well live it up.
