Murder Indictments For The Killers Of Bobby Tillman As His Mother Prepares For His Funeral
Douglas County District Attorney David McDade said Wednesday he will take the beating death case of Bobby Tillman before a Nov. 19 grand jury.
McDade will seek murder indictments for the four suspects, Emanuel Benjamin Boykins, 18; Quantez Devonta Mallory, 18; Horace Damon Coleman, 19; and Tracen Lamarr Franklin, 18. All are from Douglas County. They are accused of stomping and beating to death Tillman, 18, last Saturday night outside an Independence Drive house party.
McDade said his office is searching for possible additional suspects in the case. He said investigators are “finding more and more people who saw things” Saturday night.
“We want to make sure everybody involved is identified and charged,” he said. “Because there were so many different people and statements, we think there’s a possibility others could be involved.”
He said he spent most of Wednesday morning at Atlanta TV stations, viewing footage shot of interviews with the suspects.
“They all acknowledge they were there, but want to point the finger at somebody else,” he said.

McDade wouldn’t comment on whether he will seek the death penalty, saying this is “not the time” to discuss it.
“I certainly need to sit down with the victim’s family,” he said. “It’s something that needs to be thoroughly discussed before a decision is made. My concern is with Tillman’s family.”
About 200 friends and family of Tillman met outside Chapel Hill High School Tuesday afternoon for a candlelight vigil to mourn the death of the 2010 graduate. Members of the Chapel Hill High basketball team left practice to huddle in prayer at the vigil. Friends said Tillman was an avid basketball fan and was working on a career as a sports agent.
Tillman’s family has set visitation hours from 2-7 p.m. Friday at Willie Watkins Funeral Home, 8312 Dallas Highway, Douglasville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Siloan International Church, 3695 Roosevelt Highway, College Park, according to a funeral home spokesman.
