Michael Pierce, 12, was shot in the head by his older brother when they were playing around with a shot gun they found. The accidental shooting happened in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side on the 50 block of East 103rd Street.
Pierce was found shot in the head at home and was pronounced dead at 7:12 p.m. Sunday at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. The shooting happened at 7:41 p.m. Sunday and the boy’s 14-year-old brother is in custody in the accidental shooting.

Yolanda Pierce said one of her brothers had brought the gun into the home for protection as an additional safeguard to burglar bars on outside windows to prevent break-ins at the residence in the 0-99 block of East 103rd Place.
