Michelle Obama Gives Her Inauguration Gown Away
First Lady, Michelle Obama, has given her infamous white gown, that she wore to the Inauguration, to the Smithsonian Institute. Here, the one-shouldered piece designed by Jason Wu will be displayed at the National Museum of American History. This will be a new addition to the exhibit that already showcases all the gowns worn by first ladies starting with Mamie Eisenhower. Michelle Obama realized just how much the gown affected not only the fashion world, but history in general. She stated at the presentation ceremony on Tuesday that she was ‘ a little embarrassed’ by all the attention but was ‘very honored and very humbled’ by the experience. She concluded with stating ‘ I truly recognize the significance of this day. The gown and all of the items that we’ll see in this wonderful exhibit help us connect with a moment in history in a very real way.’ Check out the pictures of the presentation ceremony.
