While watching ESPN yesterday I nearly choked on the lemonade I was drinking… “The Tampa Bay Bucs release Warrick Dunn, Ike Hilliard, Joey Golloway, Cato June, & the face of their franchise Derrick Brooks.” Are you f’ing kidding me??? They just destroyed our team! I mean it’s bad enough that we squandered a year where we were a shoe-in for the playoffs only to miss them by one game. But to lose these guys is just too much for me!
If you couldn’t already tell, I am a Bucs fan. Yes I’m originally from Florida and yes I am a tomboy and absolutely love sports especially football.
So the new coach just blew out what they considered to be all the “old” members of the team with the exception of Barber. Did they stop to consider the fact that Brooks just came off a season where he went to his 11th Pro-Bowl? That Dunn had a solid year averaging 52 yds/g rushing & 22 yds/g receiving? Come on people, they still have some gas left in the tank! Now we have to face the daunting “R” word. “Rebuild”.
Whether or not you care about the Bucs, you can at least feel my pain with the rebuilding process. All teams at one point or another go through it and it sucks majorly! There is always a silver lining to every cloud though and after witnessing what kind of season the Dolphins were able to pull off, I have hope. I mean, come on, if there are still people that are willing to pay money to go see the Detroit Lions play, then the least I can do is give the “rebuilding” Bucs a chance.
Oh well, there goes the trash-talking at the office… I’ll have to wait a few years til the Bucs can be back on top. At least there’s always
