Yesterday, we talked about the most powerful women in the industry. Today, we want to tackle the other half of the population. The media is filled with successful, wealthy, and talented people and here at Global Grind we decided to list who we feel are the Most Powerful Men among them. These men have separated themselves from the pack by being outstanding in their field, whether it is music, politics, acting, designing, or inventing.

They’re multi-faceted and are in it for the long haul. Their aim is to make a change in the world while leaving their mark behind. Check out which men made the list on the next pages!

Russell Simmons, GG’s Editor-in-Chief, is one of the most respected figures in hip-hop—co-founding the label that pioneered hip-hop into a major force Def Jam. He is not only a successful entrepreneur with businesses such as Phat Farm and Argyleculture, but also a philanthropist and author.

Kanye West is without a doubt the most forward-thinking man in the spotlight, recently incorporating art into his music and performances. He is behind the innovative company G.O.O.D music, which represents artists such as John Legend, Big Sean, and Mr. Hudson.  He is a fashion icon, not to mention he produces/raps some of the best music of our generation.

Bill Gates is the chairman of Microsoft and is responsible for revolutionizing the personal computer.  He is a published author, and philanthropist with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which is the largest transparently operated charity in the world.

As the 44th president of U.S.A., Barack Obama is the first African American to hold that position. He is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, and served as a State Senator for Illinois.  As president, he has passed important legislation such as the healthcare reform bill and economic stimulus package.

Jay-Z started out as a rapper and parlayed his business savvy into successes such as Rocawear clothing, the 40/40 nightclubs, and Roc-A-Fella Records. He has sold approximately 50 million albums worldwide and has been awarded 10 Grammys. Not to mention he is married to R&B queen, Beyonce.
