There’s nothing like a great band where every member contributes their own unique personality and talent for the greater good of the group.

But many bands breed artists who go off on their own and sometime make a name for themselves, reaching a greater success than even the band itself. Sometimes a band breaks up, or the artist just wants to explore and create music that doesn’t jive with the direction of the band.

Artists like Justin Timberlake, Beyonce and Gwen Stefani were all in extremely successful groups, but now they have even more name recognition and their own hit songs.

The Killers have recently taken a musical hiatus and front man Brandon Flowers is only one of the latest artists who decided to put out his own solo CD which has met with quite a bit of success in the UK.

So take a look at some of the best band members turned solo artists and see which one is your favorite!

Killers frontman Brandon Flowers just released his solo CD: ‘Flamingo’
