Jim Bunning is my political punching bag of the week, because I want to use him as a punching bag, ok, good. Bunning is single handling stopping unemployment benefits extension for unemployed Americans. I feel that it is important to know this dudes name, Jim Bunning, former Major League Baseball player and now current Sen. from Kentucky. Bunning continuously objected to a unanimous consent on the House floor, the bill presented on the floor would extend eligibility for unemployment benefits for 30 days for laid-off workers. And now thanks to Jim Bunning 200,000 laid-off workers will lose their unemploymen benefits. If this bill isn’t passed an estimated 1.2 million people will lose their benefits. It’s the slow foot dragging that makes me very unhappy with the way things work in Washington, not only is Sen. Bunning not voting for an extension, but even his Republican partners are asking why?, during a Senate hearing Bunning was asked about the extension and he blurted out a message to one of Senators on the floor: “Tough s—t.” Wow, to all Americans out there these are the people representing us in Congress.

This is why people are fed up with Congress and the way the government moves. What if Obama during the campaign trail in 2008 told Joe the Plumber ‘Tough s–t’? Is this how all politicians react when it comes to issues that affect the American people? Today is the 5th day Bunning is blocking jobless benefits. This is definitely on Obama’s radar, dont get it twisted he is scheduled to address the Bunning blocking today. In the meantime, check out Jim Bunning’s continuous objections and him being very defiant.
