Can DVF ever do any wrong? The queen of the classic wrap dress constantly re-invents every season. In her Resort 2011 collection, she showed a mostly nude/black collection with a primary focus on patterned stripes. Diane stuck to figure-flattering clothes with pieces like high-waisted shorts, silk rompers, and 1920’s style drop-waisted dresses.

Since the re-launch of Herve Leger under Max Azriz in early 2007, critics have been raving that the designer has revamped this long standing fashion brand into a new era for a younger crowd. For the Resort collection, Azria wanted to dress up his regular customer, with different patterns and textures of the bandage for a more back-tie atmosphere.

The Chanel Resort 2011 collection was one that exuded whimsical luxury. The collection featured chiffon maxi dresses and linen/cotton pants suits that were made for comfort but meant for style.

Marc Jacob’s Louis Vuitton resort collection infused the style of late 1950’s and early 1960’s apparel with a balance of womanly, figure flattering dresses and more mod-style miniskirts and box jackets. Almost every outfit was accessorized with lady-like gloves or sun-hat.

The genius that Jack and Lazaro of Proenza Schouler continue to thrive throughout every season and resort 2011 was no exception. The daring design duo created a collection full of patterned texture and accessorized glam. Tweed waistcoats, wool sweaters, and shorts galore made for one of the best collections of the season.

Peter Dundus’ collection for Pucci resort 2011 gave homage to those 1970’s vixens. Bell bottom suits and micro-mini dresses all with a splash of the signature psychedelic Pucci print put Dundus on the map as one of the best designers around.
