This year’s annual Wolrd Suana Championships were unlike any other year. The competition was held yesterday in Finland when a tragedy occurred. Russia’s finalist Vladimir Ladyzhensky suffered from severe burns, was rushed to the hospital, and then eventually died. Finland’s finalist Timo Kaukonen was taken to the hospital as well. After enduring six minutes of 230 degrees Fahrenheit (110 degrees Celsius) Ladyzhensky collapsed. 

While the case is under investigation the organizer of the event put out a statement saying All the rules were followed and there was enough first aid personnel. All the competitors needed to sign in to the competition with a doctor’s certificate.’
