Ever since the music video for “23” came out, it seems like everyone can’t stop talking about Miley Cyrus‘ cameo on the track.
While paying homage to the great Michael Jordan, it turns out all the publicity has been a good thing…since Mike WiLL Made It got some praise for the song from MJ himself!
Sitting down for an interview with MTV, the top hip-hop producer revealed he got a call from Michael Jordan the same day the video dropped, to which he co-signed!
He told MTV:
“It was dope because he liked the song so much, and he didn’t want to put it out there like, ‘Michael Jordan and Mike WiLL,'” he says. “He didn’t want to make it seem like he was pushing the record, because he saw that we did it without even really talking to him.”
“The first day the video came out he saw the video and he was like, ‘Yo, I liked the video,’ and he was like, ‘Thanks a lot. It surprised me that ya’ll would even do anything like that. But I liked the video a lot.'”
If that isn’t motivation, we don’t know what is!
Mike also talked about the difference between hip hop culture and what they call “Jordan culture”, as well as his upcoming album.
