Even though Lorde will never be one of those elite “Royals” she sings about, she’s certainly sublime enough to receive love from Kanye West.

Last month, the 16-year-old singer covered Kanye’s Yeezus track “Hold My Liquor” during a New Zealand iHeartRadio concert, and it seems like Kanye took notice, or at least took notice of the on-the-rise artist.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Lorde talked about meeting Kanye in London when they were both scheduled to perform on the talk show, Later…With Jools Holland.

“He said he liked the messages [in my songs], which was cool,” the New Zealand native says. “I was saying to myself, ‘Keep cool. This is normal.”

She also added that:

“He’s a really mellow dude – super relaxed…He had this big old grill, and I wanted to touch it, but I restrained myself.”

Hopefully, next time Lorde is face-to-face with ‘Ye she can touch his grill, and probably make a dope ass collaboration happen.

You can check out Lorde’s full interview in the Rolling Stone issue available on October 24th.
