Who had the best performance in the 2007 film American Gangster? It’s kind of a toss up between Denzel Washington, who starred as drug kingpin Frank Lucas, and (spoiler alert!) Russell Crowe, who played Detective Richie Roberts, the man who brought him down.
However, if 50 Cent was in the movie, the question would be moot: it would be 50. Yesterday, the folks at Defamer unearthed this ancient footage of 50 Cent auditioning for a role in American Gangster (with the help of some mysterious creepy woman).
The whole thing is wonderful and pretty funny. However, there’s a part when magic happens: Around the 3-minute mark, 50 Cent starts fake-crying.
How did the producers drop the ball on this? 50 could have been the first rapper to receive an acting Academy Award.
